Debra DeMeis, Senior Advisor

Debra DeMeis, Senior Fellow

Drawing on nearly four decades of experience in higher education, Debra helps clients create strategies to move their organizations forward and turn those plans into action. She works with clients to identify and analyze key data, ask critical questions, explore options, and create viable action plans. Her work focuses on empowering organizations to build the skills and knowledge that support inclusive communities and long-term growth. Grounded in deep experience in organizational learning, she helps leadership teams make decisions that reflect their institutions’ values while accommodating their evolving needs.

Debra’s background: Before joining Cambridge Hill Partners, Debra served for over 25 years in senior leadership roles as dean of students at Wellesley College and dean of William Smith College. A member of both institutions’ senior teams, she helped shape strategy on a wide range of issues such as budget priorities, hiring practices, and campus master plans. Earlier in her career, she was a professor of psychology, with research focused on women’s personal and professional development. Debra holds a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from West Virginia University and a B.S. in psychology from Bowling Green State University.

In her own words: The most fulfilling aspect of my consulting work stems from the trust that my clients and I establish. My value depends on their confidence that I will respect both their organizations and their personal viewpoints. I build this trust by meeting people where they are—listening to understand what they find important—whether that’s their values, concerns, or visions for the future—and sharing my perspective in ways that resonate with their experiences.

Ed Hudner, co-founder

Ed Hudner, Founding Partner

Ed partners with senior leaders and leadership teams to uncover and shape the case for change in ways that align with their strategic priorities. He helps leaders make the most of their organization’s own data—both the numbers and the narratives—while bringing in fresh external perspectives to spark broader thinking. Together with his clients, he co-creates practical, high-impact approaches to forge shared understanding and commitment, move the work forward, and deliver meaningful results.

Ed’s background: Before founding Cambridge Hill Partners, Ed served as assistant director for training and development at Harvard University, where he helped launch an internal, fee-for-service consulting group. In this role, he designed and facilitated leadership and management development programs and provided organizational consulting services across Harvard’s many departments. Ed also served as Head of School at a tuition-free independent school serving girls from families with limited financial resources. Under his leadership, the school shifted from a volunteer-based teaching model to a professional faculty, significantly expanding the range and competitiveness of its graduates’ secondary school placements. He holds an M.B.A. in organizational behavior and marketing from Boston University’s Questrom School of Business and a B.A. in English from Boston College.

In his own words: I believe that meaningful change—whether personal, organizational, or societal—begins with self-awareness. Each of us brings a unique set of values, stories, and assumptions that shape how we lead, connect with others, and make decisions. When self-awareness is paired with collective insight, leadership teams are better equipped to cultivate agility and drive sustainable growth. In every engagement, I strive to bring clarity, candor, and compassion, three qualities I believe are essential for navigating complexity and enabling transformation.

In my consulting work, this willingness is what often yields breakthroughs for my clients: when a new idea or perspective shifts their understanding and expands what’s possible. Those breakthroughs remind me of the value of the candid and growth-minded support I provide.
